Job Description
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the IT Manager will plan, coordinate and execute all operational activities of the IT department as well as implement the technology solutions which will enhance mission-critical business operations. Implement technology rich projects while providing reliable and timely desktop and network support to critical broadcast systems and the entire NESN user community -- approximately 160 users. Formulate and deploy long-term plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies to support all IT and company needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Set up, configure, and support internal and/or external networks. * Manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and remote user activity. * Manage and maintain active directory and integrated technologies. * Provide timely and effective desktop support to NESN users. * Identify, troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues . * Proactively maintain network security. * Create and maintain a disaster recovery plan. * Manage VOIP phone system and Blackberry phones. * Proactively identify future IT needs and propose and recommend desktop and network upgrades, patches, new applications and equipment. * Purchase new hardware and software as needed. * Design, develop and implement upgrades and installations for server and network infrastructure. * Plan and prioritize projects effectively and successfully. Utilize ZEUS engineering/IT ticket system to identify and prioritize projects. * Identify, propose and implement cost-saving measures. * Develop/enhance, implement and enforce IT policies and processes. * Manage and maintain vendor relationships, partner with telecom and network vendors to resolve system issues as needed. * Maintain NESN’s intranet. * Successfully complete other related tasks and projects as needed or requested. EDUCATION * Bachelor’s degree in IT, IS or related area of study. * Cisco certified (CCNA). * JNCIP certification preferred. * MCSE certified (minimum MCSE2003, MCITP 2008 preferred). QUALIFICATIONS * A minimum of five years proven desktop and network support experience. * Solid experience with planning, developing and implementing effective and appropriate IT network and desktop solutions for a 150-plus user organization. * Experienced in proactively identifying IT needs and successfully proposing appropriate solutions. * Experience with server virtualization, 3COM VOIP, and supporting PC and Apple/Mac environments. * Experience with Juniper Routing, Firewall and SSLVPN appliance. * Technical knowledge of and experience with current network, server and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols and standards. * Excellent multitasking, project planning and organizational skills. * Solid interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven ability to support and effectively work with all levels of an organization. * Self-motivated and a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Experience working in a fast-paced, loosely structured environment. * Must have a positive, can-do attitude. * Must be flexible and able to provide on-call (mostly remotely) coverage as needed.
