Job Description Position: VP/Director, Human Resources
Overview
MobiTV Inc. technology enables the delivery of mobile experiences consumers care about. The company draws on its decade of knowledge to continuously anticipate, develop and deliver compelling mobile media experiences across client applications that include RIM, BREW, Java, Android, iPhone, WebOS, WinMo, Palm and more. This means the mobile experiences it develops and powers are available on hundreds of handsets.
The company’s flagship product, MobiTV, available through AT&T, Verizon and other carriers – and white-labeled as Sprint TV on that carrier’s service—enjoys over 9 million subscribers and provides over 35 channels of live and on-demand TV programming.
In addition to its core product, the company’s hosted end-to-end managed service has been built to scale with the demands of the rapidly growing mobile TV and broadband market. MobiTV technology powers the unique, marquee content-specific experiences like UFC and NBA League Pass Mobile on iPhone.
Founded in 1999, MobiTV Inc. is a privately-held, venture-backed company headquartered in Emeryville, CA.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Working closely with the senior executives, define HR strategy and lead planning to support key business objectives.
• Provide leadership, guidance, training and management to HR team
• Lead all HR activities for 200-person technology company:
HR Strategy & Analysis:
• HR due diligence (M&A, IPO, etc.)
• HR best practices and benchmarking
• HR budget planning and cost containment
• HR Policies & Procedures (handbooks, codes of ethics, etc.)
Employee Relations:
• Legal compliance and responses
• Exec level employee relations
• HR support for Executive team and the Board of Directors
• Organizational Change Management
Learning & Development:
• Executive coaching
• Executive program facilitation
• Organizational development and strategic workforce planning and analysis
• L&D strategy development
• Executive level succession planning and development
• Culture development
Compensation & Benefits:
• Liaison with BOD Compensation Committee
• Performance Management Program design
• Executive Compensation Benchmarking
• Compensation & benefits strategy
Staffing:
• Staffing strategy and workforce planning and analysis
• Work redesign
Experience and Qualifications:
• BS/BA preferably in Sociology, Psychology, Business, Industrial Relations, Human Resources. MBA or related graduate degree desirable. Directly related experience may be substituted.
• 10+ years experience as a Human Resources Director/VP required dependent upon organization size.
• Executive presence and proven leadership skills, diplomacy and professionalism.
• Experience working directly with Board members and compensation committees.
• Prior experience taking a company through an IPO or acquisition desirable.
• Strong enthusiasm for profession. Ability to act as a champion and ambassador for HR department.
• Exceptional professionalism and inter-personal skills required. Approachable, tactful, good negotiator, ability to influence others.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to create order out of chaos and perform successfully in an environment of constant change and ambiguity.
• Strong conflict/resolution skills with a facilitative approach.
• Ability to thrive and perform in an ever-changing, fast-paced, and demanding environment.
• Travel may be required both domestic and international.
